Property Description
Located in the historic lanes of Chandni Chowk, Delhi, Haveli Dharampura is a UNESCO-recognized heritage haveli that stands as a benchmark in cultural conservation and adaptive reuse.
Designed by Spaces Architect@ka and executed by RRA Project Management Pvt. Ltd., the project involved the extensive restoration and structural transformation of an existing Ground +2 structure. The second floor was previously uninhabitable, requiring a comprehensive retrofit and reconstruction approach.
The redevelopment included the integration of diverse functional spaces such as restaurants, a museum, retail shops, and multiple categories of guest rooms within a strengthened Ground +1 structure, along with the construction of new second and third floors and a terrace area.
A rigorous structural overhaul was undertaken using advanced techniques such as epoxy grouting, FRP wrapping, addition of columns, slab repairs, and micro-concreting. While all architectural elements were meticulously replicated to match the original scale and craftsmanship, modern materials were strategically introduced to enhance durability and cost efficiency. Skilled artisans from across India were engaged to ensure authenticity in every detail.
The experiential journey begins through the iconic “Gali Anar” lane from Kinari Bazaar, where infrastructure improvements included the underground routing of electrical and communication lines, enhancing both aesthetics and safety.
The haveli’s grand entrance is defined by intricate stone carvings, traditional floral and vine motifs, and a façade combining Dholpur stone with red finishes. Restored wooden doors, arched detailing, and handcrafted elements reinforce the authenticity of the structure. Linear balconies overlooking the narrow lane, supported by reconstructed columns and fibre-reinforced brackets, offer a dynamic connection to the vibrant surroundings.
At its heart lies an open central courtyard featuring an octagonal flooring pattern and a traditional water fountain—an architectural element inspired by classic haveli planning, creating a serene and immersive spatial experience.
Haveli Dharampura stands as a remarkable example of heritage revival—preserving the essence of Old Delhi while transforming it into a functional, culturally rich destination.
