Shalini Misra Farm House

Chhatarpur, New Delhi, Delhi, India

Property Description

RRA had the honour of being associated with the last landscape project designed by world-renowned

architect, the late Charles Jencks. Rooted in his lifelong fascination with cosmology—the

study of planets, stars, the sun, and the moon—Charles envisioned a landscape that symbolically

brought the cosmos down to earth. RRA Project Management Pvt. Ltd. successfully brought this celestial

vision to life. This lush green masterpiece was also featured on the cover of Architectural Digest.

The RRA team embraced the challenge of bringing

to life an ambitious architectural vision: We

were able to link harmony of indoor and outdoor

spaces as it is a key feature of traditional

Indian house architecture. The house is pivoted

on a view of two grand frangipanis, that

flows as a continuum of spaces, with formal

and informal living and dining areas, a double-

height entrance foyer, study and four generous

bedrooms above all opening onto courtyards,

terraces, balconies and garden enclosures.

We managed to bring in double-insulation

brickwork to ward off summer heat and Jali

screens to filter light and shade as the client

wanted a “Made in India” house that would

provide both anchor and seasonal sanctuary, international

lifestyle. RRA coordinated with local

designers and artisans, often sourcing from

remote villages and craft fairs for specialists.
