The Umber Home

RRA had the honour to work with award winning architecture firm Mold Studio. Central open space unifies all

the floors, while providing a relief that brings in natural light & an opportunity to create a sculptural element.

As this residence is for a multi-generational family, the real challenge was that the single unit had to be designed

such that it could be easily divided into independent floors respecting individual spaces, with similar programmes if

the client requirements changed in the future. Further, the top floor is designed as an independent, self-sufficient unit.

The current urban challenge with all the city homes in Delhi is to achieve maximum

FAR while, still trying to break the monotony of an identical façade over all the floors.

Sustainability: The house is dressed in shades of copper. We chose to use copper as it is highly sustainable material- with about

80% recyclable value, durable, low in terms of maintenance requirements while providing diversity in colour and texture.
